Mined exclusively in the high desert of southeastern Oregon, this rare feldspar is the official state gemstone and one of the few sunstones in the world naturally containing copper inclusions—which create the signature schiller or metallic flash unique to Oregon specimens.

Geological Information:

Oregon Sunstone is a plagioclase feldspar known as labradorite or oligoclase, formed in ancient lava flows. Its shimmering effect, known as aventurescence, is caused by native copper platelets trapped inside the crystal structure. Unlike most sunstone on the market (often treated or lab-enhanced), Oregon Sunstone is all-natural and untreated, making it highly valued among collectors and crystal workers alike.
